TOKYOFurukawa Electric Co. said it would raise output capacity for electrolytic copper foil used in circuit boards by 30% in 2013.

It will invest 5.9 billion yen to lift capacity at subsidiary Furukawa Circuit Foil Taiwan Corp. by 400 tons to a monthly 1,200 tons in January 2013. Including the monthly 500 tons of circuit board copper foil produced at a Tochigi Prefecture plant, this will give the firm a total capacity of 1,700 tons a month in 2013.

The global market for copper-clad laminates is expected to grow 10% annually to around 900 billion yen in 2015, the firm says.
