TOKYO -- Ibiden, the world's largest printed circuit board fabricator, reported first-quarter net earnings of 3 million yen ($35.2 million), up 30.1% from a year ago.

For the period ended June 30, the PCB maker reported net sales of 69.2 billion yen ($802.5 million), up 12.1% year-over-year.

The operating income was 8.6 billion yen, up 171.4% year-over-year.

For the quarter, PWB sales made up 6.58 million yen ($76.3 million) in operating income on 43.7 billion yen ($507.3 million). The numbers were up substantially from 2009, when the company reported sales of 37.2 million yen ($407.9 million) and operating income of 2.12 million yen ($29.2 million).

Ibiden is the leading producer of printed wiring boards in the world in terms of revenue.
