BANNOCKBURN, IL — Longtime bare board fabrication veteran Jack Bramel this week became the latest inductee to the IPC Raymond E. Pritchard Hall of Fame.

Bramel started as an engineer at Magnavox, where he worked on military specifications for boards and materials. He has since worked for Continental Circuits and Honeywell, and has been a consultant during his 40-plus year career.

In 1974, he co-chaired the committee that released the first IPC printed board process standard, and chaired an open forum for printed board processes at IPC meetings for more than 10 years, from which committees on drilling, solder mask and other related topics were formed.

He served as chairman of the process effects committee for 14 years until 1989, and helped develop technical programs for IPC meetings.

Bramel also chaired an IPC task group that works with Underwriters Laboratories and Canadian Standards Association, and continues to serve on both the industry advisory group and standards technical panel for copper-clad laminates and PCBs.

He has provided industry input to UL on polyimide generic grade testing, laminate fingerprint identification on FR-4, UL HDI recognition, and silver finishes.

Bramel is a lifetime member of IPC’s Technical Activities Executive Committee.
