TAIPEI, TAIWAN – HannStar Board and Gold Circuit Electronics (GCE) are expecting an increase in utilization rates for the second half of the year. The jump reflects notebook shipment outlooks recently released, according to the companies.

HannStar forecast full utilization and a 40% climb in revenue during the second half to NT$20 billion (US$60.86 million).

GCE expects third-quarter notebook shipments up 10% to 8 million units, with revenues up 10%.

GCE reports the utilization rate at its Changshu, China plant has climbed to 90% to 95%, compared to 70% during the second quarter. Its Taiwan and Suzhou, China plants report utilization rates of 80% and 70% respectively.
