VIENNA – AT&S reported third quarter sales of 117.1 million euros and a net loss of 23.5 million euros, the company said today.

The results were adversely affected by restructuring measures at the PWB company’s Leoben-Hinterberg facility and writedowns at its Korea subsidiary.

Without the one-time charges, AT&S would have reported EBIT of 7.5 million euros and net income of 3.7 million euros.

For the first nine months of fiscal 2009, revenues were 351.4 million euros.

"The fact that in the first nine months of the financial year we managed to achieve positive operating results despite the one-time effects is a convincing demonstration of the strength of AT&S Group's performance," comments Steen Hansen, AT&S’s CFO.

During the quarter, the company reduced its Leoben-Hinterberg production capacity to 40% to 130,000 m2, and laid off 293 full-time staff and159 contract workers. The plant now employs more than 900 workers.

AT&S Korea achieved a positive EBIT for the first time in October 2008, and its future development is viewed positively, the company said. Nevertheless, the firm took goodwill writedowns of 5.6 million euros related to the AT&S Korea operations for the period.
