FERNDALE, MI – From circuit boards to LED lighting, Midwest Circuits has adapted its business to maximize the company’s strengths.
Innovation is at the core of the shift to LED lighting. A novel PCB design will help Midwest Circuits become an integral part of the upcoming LED lighting system boom. Midwest Circuits has developed a proprietary metal core printed circuit board that mitigates the thermal management challenges associated with LED lighting system design.
Prototypes of the circuit board for the LED system were tested with products from companies like Philips and Future Lighting Solutions to create a high-quality street light fixture. In the testing of these fixtures the novel PCB design aided the LED lighting products in obtaining longer life and reduced energy consumption. The LED products with Midwest Circuits metal core boards demonstrated higher energy savings while illuminating more effectively.
LED lighting cost more than traditional metal halide lamps so the technology still has a way to go to gain a wider acceptance with state and city governments. It is however a greener technology and will result in a 50 to 60% energy savings that saves money in the long run through reduced maintenance cost and lower power consumption.
