BANGKOK – More than 95 projects are underway to build or expand PCB fabrication operations in Thailand, with most of those projects coming from Chinese or Taiwanese companies, said Thailand's Board of Investment.
The projects include expansion of currently-existing operations, such as by Mektec and KCE, as well as newcomers to the country looking to build new factories, including Unimicron, Compeq, Wus, Gold Circuit, Chin Poon, Dynamic Electronics, Apex Circuit and Unitech, BOI secretary-general Narit Therdsteerasukdi told the Nation Thailand.
He said another project of note is Well Tek Electronics' expansion of its operations in the country after opening a 64,000 sq. m. factory that is capable of making HDI PCBs with up to 30 layers. The company is now seeking BOI incentives to build a larger factory with the ability to make 50-layer HDI PCBs, Therdsteerasukdi said.
