SHANNON, IRELAND – Molex is closing its facility here, leaving up to 500 staff without employment, according to reports.

The facility is scheduled to close by the end of next year, with closures taking place in a series of phases starting in early 2020.

"The majority of products made at the Shannon facility have insufficient financial returns and growth potential," Molex said.

The government reportedly has pledged to help affected staff.
