KAOHSIUNG, TAIWAN – Flexium Interconnect reported second quarter revenue of $152.4 million, down 6% year-over-year and up 7.2% sequentially.

Net income was $7.7 million, up 108.7% sequentially.

“Our gross margin last quarter improved to 16.3% from 11.4% [in the first quarter],” CFO Arthur Hsiung said.

The improvement is attributed to increased sales of FPCBs in cellphones.

The computer segment contributed 32% of revenue, up from 17% in the year-ago period and up 27% compared to the first quarter of this year. The communication segment declined to 56% from 60% in the first quarter. The consumer segment decreased to 12% from 13%.

The flexible printed circuit board maker plans to mass produce 5G-related antenna modules based on LCP and modified polyimide materials in 2020. These products will contribute to revenue in the second half of next year.
