CHONGQING, CHINA – AT&S is investing some $1.1 billion into a new plant here. The facility will produce IC substrates for high-performance computing modules.

Construction begins now, and production is scheduled for the end of 2021.

The firm attributes growing demand to computing power and data storage as a result of connected digital systems and systems using AI, robotics and autonomous driving.

The company opened its first two production sites in the region in 2016 and 2017, with a total investment of about $533.8 million.
