CHANDLER, AZ -- Rogers Corp. is planning additional capacity increases as it ramps its ability to meet expected demand for 5G and electric vehicles.

The laminates maker is also looking at potential acquisitions as a means to further its penetration in the key end-markets.

On a conference call last week, president and chief executive Bruce Hoechner said Rogers is converting a recently acquired facility here to produce materials for 5G applications. Rogers expects more than 200,000 base stations shipments in 2019.

Furthermore, as automotive technologies migrate to electrification, Rogers is speeding up its capacity increases, including "significant expansion" of production capabilities for certain materials for semiconductor packaging. "A pure electric vehicle can have 10 times more Rogers material content than an internal combustion engine vehicle with electrified systems such as power steering, and stop-start capabilities," Hoechner said.

The company has a "very robust team" looking at acquisitions in a number of different areas, he added.
