WALLINGFORD, CT – Amphenol reported record second quarter sales of nearly $2 billion, up 18.8% year-over-year.
For the six months ended June 30, sales were $3.85 billion, an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period in 2017.
“We are pleased to close the second quarter 2018 well above the high end of our guidance with record sales and adjusted diluted EPS in the quarter of $1.981 billion and $0.90, respectively,” said Amphenol president and CEO R. Adam Norwitt. “Compared to the second quarter 2017, sales increased 19%, driven primarily by strong organic growth across most of the company’s diversified end markets, including mobile devices, military, industrial, commercial air, mobile networks, automotive, and IT and data communications, together with contributions from the company’s successful acquisition program.
“Operating cash flow in the quarter was $265 million, which was strong in particular given the company’s higher than normal tax-related payments in the quarter resulting from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The company continues to deploy its financial strength in a variety of ways to increase shareholder value. This included the purchase during the second quarter of 2018 of 3.1 million shares of the company’s stock under our $2 billion three-year open market stock repurchase plan.”
The firm expects third quarter sales in the range of $1.98 billion to $2.02 billion. For full-year 2018, Amphenol forecasts sales between $7.82 billion and $7.9 billion.
