MELVILLE, NY -- Park Electrochemical reported net sales of $27.4 million for its first quarter ended May 28, down 12% from a year ago.
Net income was $1.39 million, down 53% from the previous year.
Park reported net earnings before special items of $2.48 million, versus $2.99 million last year.
During the quarter, the company took pretax restructuring charges of $1.36 million related to the consolidation of its Nelco Products electronics business unit in Fullerton, CA, and its Neltec business unit in Tempe, AZ, and the closure in fiscal 2009 of New England Laminates in Newburgh, NY. It also recorded a one-time litigation expense of $375,000.
