MIGDAL HAEMEK, ISRAEL -- Camtek said second quarter revenues rose 7% year-over-year to $27.3 million, beating company guidance.

Net income was $1.3 million, double that of a year ago. Gross profit for the period ended June 30 totaled $12.7 million, compared to $10.9 million in the second quarter. Operating profit rose rose 55% to $1.7 million.

The company guided for third-quarter revenue of $27.5 million to $29 million.

Rafi Amit, Camtek's chairman and CEO, said: "We are very pleased with our results, reporting revenues of over $27 million, which was ahead of our guidance. We also demonstrated solid gross and operating margins, leading to our strong profitability this quarter. This was driven by our performance in the semiconductor business. Advanced packaging continues to grow and capture a larger portion of the capital expenditure made by major manufacturers. Camtek is in a very strong position to continue to capitalize on this."
