BANNOCKBURN, IL – Flexible printed circuit board orders in North America are booming this year, and the forecast for next year is double-digit sales growth, says IPC.

The North American flex PCB market has grown over the past three years, while the rigid PCB market has shrunk. US production accounts for 3.4% of the world's flexible PCBs. Globally, the flex PCB market is now estimated at more than $10.2 billion.

High-density interconnect grew in double digits in 2014 and is growing even faster this year, says the research firm. HDI/microvia boards make up about 22% of the North American rigid PCB market. The US produces 2.4% of the world's microvia boards, and 7% of the rigid PCBs produced in the US are microvia boards.
