RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – Arlon Electronic Materials has installed clean room technologies in its buildup and sheeting processes, designed to reduce foreign object debris inclusions and enhance cleanliness of the manufacturing process of prepreg and laminate materials.
Improvements include enclosing prepreg sheeting and buildup areas using modular technology; the overall footprint of the buildup area has been reduced by more than 50%. The clean rooms are rated ISO Class 7 (Class 10,000).
The new air filtration system reportedly results in 50-60 volumetric air exchanges per hr. and creates positive pressure within the room.
Particle count data indicate a 70% reduction in airborne particles during the buildup process.
Arlon, which was acquired by Rogers in January, plans to expand its use of clean room technology into other processes throughout its operations in 2015 and 2016.
