BANNOCKBURN, IL -- A ballot to approve IPC-2581 Revision B has passed unanimously, and publication is now pending the inclusion of about a dozen minor suggestions. Most of the edits are grammatical in nature, says Dieter Bergman, but a couple technical comments might need to be addressed.

IPC-2581 is the industry standard for electronics data transfer.

The technical concerns note confusion in some layer functions, in which some are overlapping and others lack clear definitions. The comments are expected to be resolved without an additional ballot measure, paving the way for the standard's release shortly.
