BANNOCKBURN, IL -- The IPC-2581 Task Group is moving to get Revision B of the electronics data transfer standard circulated for review and IPC membership vote by June.

The task group has met twice this spring, once at the IPC Apex Expo in March and then at an in-house workshop at Fujitsu, with representatives from IPC, Cisco and Cadence on hand as well.

"We have a solid foundation on the schema side including ripping out some of the old structure that we no longer needed," such as the video library, explained Gary Carter, senior manager, CAD engineering at Fujitsu Network Communications. He said the task group hopes to have the document ready review in the next few weeks.

The standard IPC comment period is 30 days, and followed by a disposition of any comments by the task group. Assuming no technical issues are raised, the standard could be published late this year.

Technical committee is looking at some of the finer points where there were questions but none are considered show-stoppers, Carter said.
