PITTSBURGH -- Ansys today reported third-quarter net income of $45.5 million, up from $36.1 million last year.

The engineering simulation software provider said total GAAP revenue was $172.9 million, up from $139.8 million a year ago. The operating profit margin was 37.8%, up 70 basis points.

The company completed its acquisition of Apache Design Solutions during the quarter. The results include two months of Apache operations.

President and chief executive Jim Cashman also said the company would release Ansys 14.0 shortly.

Ansys guided for fourth-quarter revenue of $189.3 million to $195.3 million, fiscal 2011 sales of $682.5 million to $688.5 million, and fiscal 2012 sales of $814.6 million to $836.6 million.
