SAN JOSE, CA – EDA industry second-quarter revenue fell 15.8% from last year to $1.13 million, reports the EDA Consortium (EDAC).

This is the sixth successive quarter loss, the longest since the EDAC began recording data in 1997.
 
The four-quarter moving average slipped 13.9%.
 
EDA revenues were down in all regions.

The Americas, the EDA’s largest region, saw an 11.5% drop to $509 million year-over-year; the four-quarter moving average was down 14.7%.

Second-quarter revenues dove 21.5% in Japan to $217.8 million, with the four-quarter moving average slipping 17.9%.

Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) saw revenues down 21.1% from last year to $212.4 million, and the four-quarter moving average dipped 14.3%.
 
Revenues were also down in all product categories.

Services revenue took the largest hit, down 28.6% year-over-year to $77.8 million. The four-quarter moving average slipped 7.5%.

PCB and multi-chip revenue for the quarter was $105.8 million, a 24.1% drop year-over-year. The four-quarter moving average slipped 10.4%. IC physical design and verification revenues fell 12.8% from last year to $270.6 million, with the four-quarter moving average down 19.7%.
 
Revenues for Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP) totaled $221.6 million, down 16.3% from last year. The four-quarter moving average dove 5%.
 
Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) revenues sank 12.2% from last year to $449.7 million. CAE four-quarter moving average dropped 18.6%.
 
Companies that were tracked employed 26,298 professionals during the second quarter, down 6.1% from last year and 1% from last quarter.
