SUNNYVALE, CA -- A pair of printed circuit board materials experts headline the upcoming meeting of the IPC Designers Council Silicon Valley chapter.
The April 14 meeting takes place 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at Sierra Circuits in Sunnyvale and includes lunch.
Advance registration is required.
The presentations include speakers from DuPont Electronics and Isola.
DuPont Electronics senior engineer Glenn Oliver will cover unreinforced films in high-frequency and high-speed circuits, which discusses advantages of using thin unreinforced films in high-frequency and high-speed applications.
Oliver has spent 13 years at DuPont working with ceramic, HDI, flex circuit and high-frequency materials. Previous to DuPont, he was involved in the fiber optics and photonics industries. His current focus is application development for OEMs in the areas of high-frequency materials and flex circuits. He is chair of the IPC-D24c Task Group responsible for developing test methods for high frequency materials.
He will be followed by Michael Gay, director business development, strategic accounts at Isola, who will look at material selection for specialized rigid designs, Gay's presentation focuses on matching new dielectric materials to higher data rate, increased complexity and thermally demanding boards.
Gay has been with Isola for 15 years and has 20 years' experience total in the laminate and PCB manufacturing industries, with responsibilities ranging from new product introduction, process development and technical support. He is active in HDPUG and IPC, and has a bachelor's in mechanical engineering and MBA from Portland State University.
