SANTA CLARA, CA -- The annual PCB West exhibits open today at the Santa Clara Convention Center, with expectations high for another year of greater attendance.

Preshow registration for the conference and exhibits was higher than last year, suggesting the event -- the industry's largest in the Silicon Valley -- would see its sixth straight year of year-over-year gains.

Today's events include 11 free technical sessions with topics ranging from signal integrity to wideband insertion loss testing of multiple PCB final plated finishes to common errors in PCB design and how to catch them. A free luncheon on the show floor, sponsored by Sierra Circuits, takes place from noon until 1 pm. Happy hour will be offered from 5 to 6 pm as well.

The sold-out exhibit floor is open from 10 to 6. Some 20 more booths have been added to this year's show, making it the largest yet.
