Fox Electronics has expanded its line of FQ all-quartz crystal packaging to include a 5 x 3.2 mm 0.8 mm profile sized product that can be used in portable applications such as PDA, MP3, scanners and GPS.

The company claims that all-quartz packaging reduces cost by up to 20% over conventional ceramics, eliminates problems with ceramic shortages, and has a lower weight and profile than conventional products.  

The product reportedly is available in frequencies from 12 MHz to 50 MHz, with a ±30 ppm tolerance at 25°C (77°F), with tighter tolerance models available on special order.  Extended temperature models for use from -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F) are also available.
