A quarter of a century of Peters Research: The R&D and Quality Assurance departments have been working together for 25 years under the label of the independent Peters Research GmbH & Co. KG. Numbering 30 employees today, Peters Research was separated from the company Lackwerke Peters in 1995 based on a transfer agreement, and has since been the “mother of all recipes”. The recipes are given access back to the sister company through a licensing procedure. One employee out of five in the Peters workforce wears a white coat constantly, and, thanks to basic knowledge of the coating chemistry and decades of experience on the R&D team, thus ensures not only the future and sustainability of more than 4,000 Peters customers worldwide, but also of the Peters Group,“ says Ralf Schwartz, Managing Director of the company that this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Company founder Werner Peters developed the first recipes himself. Later on, Rainer Scharre headed the steadily growing laboratory staff, followed by Dr. Manfred Suppa who took over at the end of the 1990s and is now working as an author of specialist articles on the subject of conformal coatings.
Today Dr. Pavel Gentschev, Chief Technical Officer (CTO), is steering the research and service contracts of Peters Research, actively supported by the experienced Detlev Schucht, the „father of our Elpemer solder resists“, as Schwartz puts it.
Also on the management team: Johannes Tekath as innovation manager for the development of new product applications, Maria Wunsch who is responsible for Quality Assurance, and Detlef Paschke heading the associated service department. Ralf Schwartz: „At their side, a strong team of experienced employees and inquisitive and ambitious talents.“
Peters Research is one of the pillars of the group. The high quality and performance of Peters products is based on two fundamentals: On the one hand, the art of formulating all recipe components in the laboratory, and on the other a targeted and safe processing at the customer’s site which is ensured through specialists of Lackwerke Peters GmbH & Co. KG both from the Peters site and in the field.
"The innovative filigree work on coating materials and auxiliary products of our extensive product range, however, is performed in various, mostly interdisciplinary research groups,“ reports Ralf Schwartz. The right additives are like the salt in the soup“ and make all the difference. Wherever one sees a Peters label on a container, there is a lot of know-how and experience inside, which has made the Peters Group one of the world‘s leading suppliers of special coating materials for electronics. According to Ralf Schwartz, “it should stay that way."
