San Diego, CA - February 27, 2018 - Aculon Inc., a surface modification company, today announced its participation at 2018 IPC APEX Expo.

Aculon will exhibit two key products for the printed circuit board and electronics manufacturing industry, NanoClear® and NanoProof®, at booth #2219.

2018 IPC APEX Expo, the electronics manufacturing industry event of the year, is taking place February 27 – March 1 in San Diego, CA.

Aculon’s NanoProof treatments are easy to apply waterproofing treatment that are designed to treat all the typical materials found on a PCB including metals, semiconductors, and polymers to protect the PCB to IPX7 and beyond. The NanoProof series of hydrophobic treatments can be applied inline using standard equipment produced by manufacturers such as Nordson Asymtek and PVA. This eliminates costly capital vacuum deposition equipment investment, masking, and bottlenecking batch processes, all of which are cost prohibitive.

Also, unique to Aculon’s NanoProof series is its Push Through Connectivity™ capability, which allows connectors to push through the treatment after it has been treated to enable connections to the board, thereby providing assembly flexibility currently not found with other technologies.

Aculon’s NanoClear SMT Stencil Treatment is #1 Global Stencil nanocoating. NanoClear improves print quality, increases throughput, reduces defects and enhances printing with small apertures.

NanoClear has shown to reduce defects by over 50%, increase throughput by over 30% and payback within an average of 200 prints. NanoClear is easy to apply whether by stencil producers or by assemblers.

Aculon CEO Edward Hughes will be on hand to speak with attendees and the media about its offerings for the electronics industry at booth #2219.

“APEX is an excellent forum for deepening our business partner relationships and resources and helping electronics industry professionals prepare for a successful 2018 by providing access to our representatives and innovative solutions,” said Hughes.

About Aculon

Aculon, Inc. is an award winning and leading surface modification company that specializes in creating ultra-thin film treatments to modify surfaces to make them repellant. The company was founded in 2004 on technology licensed from Princeton University using self-assembled monolayers of phosphonates (SAMPs). Since its founding Aculon has developed a broad suite of surface modification technologies including hydrophobic, superhydrophobic, oleophobic, hydrophilic, anti-fouling and adhesion promotion technologies for global electronics, oil and gas and a specialty treatment business for consumer products, automotive, optical, and industrial applications. Aculon’s technologies can be applied via spray, wipe or dipping processes that mitigate the need for capital-intensive vacuum chamber deposition processes.
