Dieter W. Bergman (1932 - 2014) was the longtime technical director of Institute of Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits (later IPC), and cofounder of IPC Designers Council. Coauthor of several standards ranging from circuit board design to land patterns to dimensioning. Began career in 1956 as designer for Philco Ford in Philadelphia. Began work in computer-aided design in 1967. Received IPC President's Award in 1968 and was inducted to IPC Hall of Fame in 1985. Joined IPC in 1974 as Technical Director. Produced hundreds of workshops on design and fabrication around the world.
