WALLINGFORD, CT -- Amphenol today reported first quarter revenues rose 7.5% to $1.56 billion.

Currency translation had the effect of decreasing sales by approximately $18 million in the quarter compared to 2016.

Net income rose 44% from 2016 to $227.3 million.

During the period, the company took transaction charges of $30 million relating to its acquisition of FCI. Cash from operations was $238 million.

CEO and president Adam Norwitt said: “We achieved these strong results despite the ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainties affecting the global economy. Compared to the first quarter 2016, sales increased 8%, with strong growth in the information technology and data communications, military, automotive, broadband and industrial markets, driven by organic growth together with contributions from the Company’s successful acquisition program.

“We are expanding our growth opportunities through a deep commitment to developing enabling technologies for customers in all of our end markets, an ongoing strategy of market and geographic diversification, as well as through contributions from our acquisition program.”

Amphenol guided for second quarter sales of $1.58 billion to $1.62 billion, and raised its 2017 guidance to $6.405 billion to $6.525 billion.
