WALLINGFORD, CT -- Amphenol reported record third-quarter sales as the company's organic growth and acquisition strategy continued to pay dividends.

For the period ended Sept. 30, the printed circuit board and connector maker's revenue rose 12.1% to a record $1.64 billion. Net profit was up 9.8% year-over-year to $224.3 million.

Operating cash flow in the quarter was $291 million. The company took a charge during the quarter for acquisition-related transaction costs of $6 million. Adjusted operating margins reaching a record 20.3% in the period.

“We are very pleased to report results above the high end of our guidance for the third quarter," Amphenol chief executive and president Adam Norwitt said. "We achieved these results despite ongoing uncertainties in the global economy. Compared to the third quarter 2015, sales increased by 12%, driven by organic growth in all markets except mobile devices together with contributions from the company’s successful acquisition program. Our unique entrepreneurial culture continues to enable strong operating results. This excellent profitability is a direct result of our dynamic management team’s ability to drive disciplined operational execution together with an unrelenting focus on all elements of cost."

Amphenol continues to grow by targeted acquisition. At the end of the third quarter Amphenol the company acquired All Systems Broadband, a supplier of cable assemblies and fiber optic products for the broadband market with annual sales of approximately $40 million. In the beginning of the fourth quarter, the company added SGX Sensortech, a Switzerland-based designer and manufacturers of air quality sensors used in automotive and industrial applications, with annual sales of approximately $15 million.

“The current global economic environment remains volatile and uncertain. Considering this environment and based on current currency exchange rates, we expect fourth quarter sales in the range of $1.585 billion to $1.625 billion," said Norwitt. "For the full year 2016, we now expect sales in the range of $6.22 billion to $6.26 billion, an increase of 12% over 2015."
