The three-month average orders worldwide was down 5% sequentially to $1.35 billion for the month, the trade group said.

The three-month average of worldwide billings in August was $1.29 billion, up 19.5% compared to the same month in 2013, and down 2% sequentially.

The book-to-bill ratio was 1.04. A book-to-bill of 1.04 means that $104 worth of orders was received for every $100 of product billed for the month. It marked the 11th straight month the ratio was at or exceeded the benchmark 1.0.

Current month bookings and billings continue to trend well above 2013 levels, the trade group said.
