PCB Orders, Book to Bill Jump in Germany

FRANKFURT -- Germany region PCB manufacturers reported sales rose 9.6% year-over-year in November.

Average monthly sales year to date are about 11% percent higher than in the two previous years, added ZVEI PCB and Electronic Systems, the trade association that compiles the data.

Orders were up more than 11% over November 2016 and 22% higher than in October. Through November, orders are up 15.6% over previous year.

ZVEI said overall demand is higher, especially for safety and home appliances, and industrial electronics. The trade group also pointed to the return of products from Asia due to technical requirements that cannot be by some Asian suppliers.

The book-to-bill was 1.10, up from 0.93 in October. A ratio over 1.0 is considered an indicator of future growth.

 The number of employees increased by almost 8% over 2016.
