FLAGSTAFF, AZ -- Former colleagues of the late Gary Smith will continue to provide EDA market data services, it was announced today.

In a statement on the company website the remaining staffers said "starting over is never easy," but it would continue the firm's mission under the guidance of lead analyst Laurie Balch.

"When Gary Smith passed away unexpectedly this past July, it certainly left a huge void in all our hearts, as well as silencing a foremost voice in the EDA industry. While Gary is truly irreplaceable and we continue to miss him terribly, the EDA industry has a mission that must move ahead unabated. And Gary Smith EDA will follow suit."

Smith passed away July 3 at the age of 74.

The team of analysts he left behind has been together for 17 years, starting at Gartner before following him to Gary Smith EDA.

Balch has been named lead analyst for market intelligence and advisory services, and will be joined by Mary Olsson, Sharon Tan among others.
