TAIPEI -- Taiwanese fabricators forecast printed circuit board growth of 2.23% this year, a new survey from the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association reveals.

The survey projects 2012 sales of NT$517.5 billion (US$17.3 billion), which is low versus historical growth rates.

The figures include the value of boards produced both in Taiwan and China by Taiwanese PCB manufacturers. About 40% of the China's PCB output last year was from Taiwanese manufacturers, TPCA said.

Still, sales appear to be on the upswing, if marginally. Sales by Taiwanese PCB manufacturers in China rose 3.5% sequentially in the second quarter to NT$127.9 billion, the survey reported.

The survey was conducted by the Taiwan Industrial Economics and Knowledge Research Center (IEK) and TPCA.
