DUBLIN -- Global consumer electronics sales are expected to reach $1.6 trillion by 2018 and will remain strong over the next five years, driven by rising demand in Asia and other emerging countries.

Asia-Pacific is forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of 17.6%, while the Middle East has a forecast CAGR of 17%. Other leading growth markets include Africa (CAGR: 16.9%) and Japan (13.9%), says Research and Markets, which prepared the report.

Analog and digital TV accounts for nearly 32.3% of the overall market, followed by personal computers (25.5%).
