WALLINGFORD, CT -- Amphenol today reported second-quarter net income fell nearly $7 million, reaching $141 million for the period ended June 30. Sales for the period were a record $1.061 billion, up 4% year-over-year and 8% sequentially. Operating margin rose 50 basis points sequentially to 19.4%. Operating income fell $8.7 million to $206.1 million. Amphenol president and chief executive Adam Norwitt said strength in automotive, industrial, commercial aerospace and telecommunications and data communications equipment offset declines in defense and wireless markets. “Our ongoing strategy of market and geographic diversification combined with our strong commitment to developing enabling technologies for our customers in all markets, both through organic product development and through our acquisition program, continues to expand the company’s growth opportunities.” The printed circuit board and connector maker guided for third quarter revenues of $1.08 billion to $1.1 billion.
