YAVNE, ISRAEL -- Orbotech reported first-quarter net income fell 36% sequentially and 86% year-over-year to $1.6 million. Revenues for the quarter ended March 31 were $100.2 million, down from 24.8% sequentially 25% from last year. Orbotech, which makes AOI and LDI systems, said equipment sales to the PCB industry were $48.5 million in the quarter, down from $52.7 million in the fourth quarter and $57.1 million a year ago. Still, the company is maintaining optimism for a rebound as the year progresses. "After a somewhat slow start to the year, in recent weeks we are seeing significantly improved sales of our PCB equipment," President and chief executive Rani Cohen said.
