Mentor Reports Record Q1 Sales Print E-mail

WILSONVILLE, OR -- Mentor Graphics swung to a fiscal first-quarter net profit of $27.5 million, up from a loss of $2.4 million last year.

For the period ended April 30, the EDA company reported revenues of $247.9 million, a record, on higher demand for its semiconductor design software. Systems and software sales were up 7% year-over-year, and maintenance revenue was up 9%.

“Strength in our business continued in the first quarter, with record first quarter revenue and earnings,” said Walden C. Rhines, chairman and CEO.

Mentor reaffirmed its revenue guidance of $1.1 billion for the year, while raising its earnings per share outlook. For the second quarter, the company forecasts revenues of about $240 million.

Mentor develops software for printed circuit board and semiconductor design.
