AUSTIN, TX -- National Instruments' second-quarter profit rose 459% year-over-year to $24.6 million on a 39% jump in sales. Revenue for the period ended June 30 was $212 million. Not including one-time items -- specifically, foreign currency adjustments -- adjusted earnings for the quarter were $28.3 million. Furthermore, NI expects strong third-quarter year-over-year revenue growth, with revenue expected to be between $206 million and $220 million, and record revenues and profits for the year. For the quarter, instrument control sales were up 54%; virtual instrumentation and graphical system design sales rose 38%. Overall product revenue was up 39% and software maintenance up 37% year-over-yhear.
