TOKYO -- Zuken reported September quarter revenue rose 5% year-over-year to ¥4.62 billion ($45.3 million), but higher SGA costs felled the company's net profits. For the period ended Sept. 30, sales were up 11.8% sequentially, while net income of ¥11 million ($107,748) reversed a loss of ¥109 million in the June quarter.

Compared to the same quarter last year, Zuken's bottom line shrank from ¥116 million despite an increase in revenues. The percentage of Zuken's sales devoted to SGA costs was 72.7% for the period, up from 68.7%.

During the quarter, Zuken opened an innovation center, called the SOZO Center, in San Jose.
