Project Engineer, PC Board Development
Summary Statement: Under the direction of the Manager or Section Manager of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design, designs and documents PCBs and PCB assemblies. Project Engineers are capable of completing our most complex projects with minimal guidance and can be expected to train / mentor PCB Design associates in most functions of the department.
Representative Duties:
- At this level the engineer can be expected to complete projects at all levels of complexity with minimal guidance.
- He / she can be expected to provide work leadership and training to lower level members of the PCB Design Department staff.
- Will contribute to the creation of new department processes and procedures. Can be expected to initiate new processes after recognizing the need for improvement.
- Can be expected to work as a dedicated team member or core team member of a Sustaining Engineering, Blue Ribbon Product Development or Advanced Development team.
- Will import or access schematic data from the appropriate development engineering department for use in the design of a PCB.
- Using the PADS or Mentor Graphics software tool, designs and documents all elements of a printed circuit board utilizing the appropriate software application library.
- Working with the appropriate Mechanical Engineer, creates PCB assembly drawings to be used for documentation and by the manufacturer of the PCB assembly.
- Using the appropriate software application, sends / transmits PCB and PCB assembly data to a designated manufacturing facility for fabrication and / or assembly.
- Redesigns or revises existing PCB designs for cost reduction or to solve electrical, mechanical or manufacturing problems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
B.S. Degree or equivalent and six years of experience in a PCB design capacity. Minimum two years recent experience using the Mentor Graphics PCB layout software tool.
