PYUNGTAEK-CITY, KOREA - The InkTec Co. and Thin Film Electronics ASA have announced that they have extended their joint development agreement (JDA) signed in November 2007 and will begin production of printed memory circuits.

Under the agreement, InkTec has been granted additional options to acquire production and marketing rights from Thinfilm under a Patent and Know-How License Agreement that focuses on developing volume print manufacturing processes for memory technology.

Manufacturing will take place at InkTec's second factory in Pyungtaek-City, Korea. The factory was opened in 2007 and has currently three automated production lines.

Johan Carlsson, CEO of Thin Film Electronics stated: "We are very pleased with the collaboration and results already achieved together with InkTec under our initial JDA. InkTec's silver inks have proven to be very suitable as memory cell electrodes. It's therefore encouraging that we now can expand our collaboration in setting up InkTec as our first manufacturing partner in ASIA."

In the future, we see Thinfilm's memory technology as an important and integral part of printed radio frequency identification (RFID) products," said InkTec's CEO, Kwang-Choon Chung.

InkTec claims that its electronic ink differs from other inks by using a transparent nano-silver ink not formulated by particle structure, allowing ink sintering in low temperatures.
