CANONSBURG, PA - ANSYS, Inc. has announced that as a result of the Security and Exchange Commission's review, it expects to finish the acquisition of Ansoft in the third quarter of 2008.

The company had previously announced that the acquisition would be completed by the second quarter.

Ansoft develops EDA simulation software used in electronic design. While Ansoft currently has a relatively small presence in Europe, ANSYS’ reports that its greater market share in the region will position the company to increase sales of Ansoft software products in the EU.

When acquired, the combined companies will reportedly have over 40 sales offices and 21 development centers on three continents, and will employ approximately 1,700 people.
