GURGAON, INDIA - Indian technical graduates are increasingly choosing to find work at home, rather than take jobs in western countries, a new survey finds.
According to a survey by Evalueserve, a research organization based primarily in India and Asia, graduates from Indian technological schools suggest that India is catching up with the U.S. for job availability and quality of career prospects.
According to the survey, between 1964 and 2001, the number of graduates staying in India was 65%, but this number increased to 84% between 2002 and 2008.
While only 667 graduates were surveyed, the report stated that between 1964 and 2001, 60% of graduates believed that western countries offered the best employment prospects, but this fell to 51% after 2002, with 49% now believing that better opportunities can be found in their own country.
