Taiwan - Topoint Technology expects shipments of drill bits used for IC substrates to increase in 2008, as a result of the growing demand in the IC substrate market.

The company reports plans to raise monthly drill bit manufacturing capacity in both Taiwan and China to 7.5 million units in the second quarter, up from the current 7.2 million units in Taiwan and below 7 million units in China.

According to the company, IC substrate drill bits currently account for 35-40% of sales, and clients of the company include Nan Ya Printed Circuit Board, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Phoenix Precision Technology and Kinsus Interconnect Technology.
