Electro Scientific to Buy New Wave Research for $36M Print E-mail

PORTLAND, ORElectro Scientific Industries agreed to acquire privately held New Wave Research Inc. for $36 million in cash.

ESI will enter into the sapphire wafer scribing market with the purchase.

The acquisition of Fremont, CA-based New Wave is expected to be about breakeven in 2008, ESI said in a statement.
 
No other terms of the agreement were disclosed.

SX45 Stereo Zoom Microscope
Vision Engineering introduces the SX45 stereo zoom microscope. Although it is affordable, it maintains a high level of optical performance. It has a zoom ratio of 6.3:1 and a magnification of x50.
 
A digital or USB camera can be used simultaneously, and a trinocular viewing attachment is available.
