EMA TimingDesigner Announces First International VAR - ALS Design
Written by Tracy Heffner
Tuesday, 17 April 2007
ROCHESTER, NY – EMA Design Automation has contracted with ALS Design in France as the first international VAR to sell EMA TimingDesigner. “We are selling TimingDesigner direct in North America and will sell through a network of VARs internationally,” said Manny Marcano, president and CEO of EMA. “This allows us to expand into the international markets for our products, the first of which is TimingDesigner.”
“Because we have both been Cadence VARs for a number of years, we have seen the solid relationships ALS Design builds with its customers, which is in line with our business philosophy,” said Marcano. “In looking for international VARs for TimingDesigner, it became clear that this was the perfect opportunity to expand our relationship.”
TimingDesigner is an interactive timing analysis tool that is said to produce fast and accurate results for timing critical designs. It is ideal for high-speed, multi-frequency designs where it is essential to accurately model and analyze signal relationships between devices on a board or between embedded functions on an ASIC or programmable IC. TimingDesigner can evaluate comprehensive sets of timing alternatives and provide direction to the most complex of timing challenges, enabling designers to manage and monitor timing margins through the design process.
“Many of our customers are designing increasingly larger, more complex and higher speed digital designs,” said Bruno Mouneimne, President of ALS Design. “As these designs grow, timing issues become a bigger problem causing design re-spins and slower time-to-market. With TimingDesigner, our customers can quickly obtain complete timing margin analyses addressing the factors that can ultimately affect the success of their designs.”

CSP/BallNest Socket Provides Consistant Test and Burn-In
Aries Electronics introduces the CSP/BallNest Hybrid Socket for test or burn-in of chip scale package, ball grid array, microBGA, land grid array and prototyping. It can be used on any device having a pitch of 0.30 mm or larger. Features include a lid that nests each ball termination into the socket for a reliable connection and a four-point crown providing scrub on solder oxides. It has a signal path of 0.0777 inches and provides minimal signal loss for higher bandwidth capability. Estimated contact life is 500,000 cycles, and the socket is available in custom materials, sizes, configurations and platings. www.arieselec.com
