BANNOCKBURN, IL – IPC, Association Connecting Electronics Industries, has completed “From Vacuum Tubes to Nanotubes: An Amazing Half Century – The Emergence of Electonic Circuit Technology 1957- 2007” and will release it in time for the 50th anniversary of IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries. Copies will be available at the 2007 IPC Printed Circuits Expo, APEX and the Designers Summit, February 17–22, in Los Angeles. The book recounts the history of printed circuit technology from its earliest days to the present, and includes a glimpse into the future by technologist Dr. Ken Gilleo. It interweaves the history of IPC with the larger picture of the progress of the electronics manufacturing industry, from the founding of IPC in 1957 to the present. Also included is an IPC chronology of events. Appendices at the end of the book include a comprehensive reference list of IPC documents, IPC presidents, President’s Award winners and more. The book contains interviews and recollections of many individuals important to the development of the industry and to IPC. IPC was founded in 1957 by the presidents of five printed wiring board companies who joined together to form the Institute for Printed Circuits. Published by IPC, the book will be a gift to attendees at the IPC 50th Anniversary reception and dinner on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Following the show, the book will be mailed to IPC member companies and available for free download from the 50th Anniversary Web site.
