WISE Software Releases GerbTool Version 14.2

NEWBERG, OR – WISE Software has released GerbTool version 14.2, which reportedly offers users additional functions that allow them to intelligently exchange data between design and manufacturing. In addition to GerbTool’s support of intelligent data exchange formats such as ODB++ and DirectCAM, GerbTool now offers support for importing and exporting ODB++ (X) and IPC-2581.
“We are committed to providing our users, and the entire industry, with a cost-effective means for achieving their intelligent data transfer goals,” says Jeff Miller, vice president of sales and marketing for WISE Software. “Although many of our users might only have been anticipating the release of our IPC-2581 interface, we thought we’d throw in a little surprise with support for ODB++ (X) as well.”
The automated Stencil Enhancement suite replaced the original home plate feature found in GerbTool. It is reported that unlimited shapes can be defined, based upon IPC-7525 guidelines, with user-defined rules for associating those shapes with the generic paste shapes typically found in a design data set. After the shapes and rules have been established, GerbTool will automatically make the necessary replacements and save them for use in future designs, thus eliminating the need to repeatedly setup the conversion process when a new job is ready for production.

Development Kit Test Drives Innovative Cable Assemblies
