Agilent Releases WiMAX Library for Broadband Wireless

PALO ALTO, CA – Agilent Technologies Inc. has released a WiMAX design exploration library for use with the company’s Advanced Design System (ADS) EDA software. The library is said to help wireless systems designers and verification engineers speed development of communications products for broadband wireless access (BWA) applications.
WiMAX, the IEEE 802.12-2004 standard, specifies air interfaces for BWA systems. It is expected to create many opportunities to deploy systems in applications that were previously prohibited due to cost. WiMAX reportedly enables multiple services in a wireless metropolitan area network, such as wireless backhaul for telecommunications, high-bandwidth/high-reliability remote connectivity, E1/T1 replacements for small and medium sized businesses, and residential wireless DSL for broadband Internet in homes.
The library is said to provide preconfigured simulation setups, signal sources and fully coded BER analysis for simulation of the circuitry used in BWA designs. It is compatible with the ADS environment and with the Ptolemy simulator, and can be imported into RF Design Environment (RFDE).

Development Kit Test Drives Innovative Cable Assemblies
