Manufactured Durable Orders Up Again in March |

WASHINGTON, DC, April 23 -- New
orders for manufactured durable goods in March rose 3.4% to $192.7
billion, the Department of Commerce reported today. This followed a
3.8% February increase.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods in March, up six of the last seven months, increased 3.2% to $195.2 billion.
Durable goods are those items that last three or more years.
Unfilled orders, up seven of the last eight months, rose a fraction (0.8%) to $514.5 billion.
Inventories upticked 0.1% to $264.7 billion, and have risen four straight months.
New orders for defense systems fell 6.1%, while nondefense new orders were up 2.1%.
