WISE Updates GerbTool With Embedded Passive Support
Written by Tracy Heffner

Newberg, OR, Oct. 29, 2004 - WISE Software has announced
GerbTool version 14.0. This latest version of GerbTool offers features
such as fully revised support of NC drilling and milling, and enhanced
netlisting support that streamlines the comparison process of
Gerber-to-D356.
Another feature is the DFM support for
embedded passive technology. Through the introduction of broad-ranging
DFM analysis features, GerbTool is now poised to help designers and
fabricators deploy either additive or subtractive passive resistor
materials within their printed circuit based products.
This release also features
completely redesigned support for NC Drill & Mill, allowing users
to work with multiple tool tables and control every aspect of their NC
data right down to feed, speed, plunge and extract rates of the machine
spindle. When combined with the powerful advanced panelization, both
designers and fabricators will have all the features they require to
accommodate even the most complex of assembly sub-panels or
manufacturing production panels.
GerbTool Version 14.0 is scheduled to begin shipping in November 2004.

Development Kit Test Drives Innovative Cable Assemblies
3M introduces the Shielded Controlled Impedance (SCI) Cable Assembly Development Kit, 2mm. The development kit enables users to assess, test and design high-performance, 2mm SCI cable-to-board solutions. Engineers can attain multi-gigahertz performance from 2 mm printed circuit board connectors using 2mm shielded controlled impedance cable assemblies. The SCI connectors save board space without affecting performance. Users can verify signal integrity, impedance matching and crosstalk performance for designs requiring up to 1 Gbps single-ended performance per signal line or 5 Gbps differential performance per signal pair. The kit contains everything needed to assess, test and design, including a CD-ROM with application note, test instruction and technical sheets. www.3m.com
